Dolman Law Group, along with co-counsel Battle Law, has filed another lawsuit against Roblox for failing to protect children from harm on their platform. This Roblox lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of DeKalb County in Georgia on behalf of Jane Doe and her minor son, John Doe, who was sexually exploited and abused on the Roblox platform. The mother has decided to file anonymously to protect their privacy.
Jane Doe v. Roblox Corporation (which we will refer to it until the court assigns an official case number), seeks to hold Roblox responsible for creating conditions by deliberate actions and inactions that allowed the child, John Doe, to be sexually exploited. John Doe was groomed and baited by multiple adults into thinking he was interacting with other kids his age. During the course of many chats, he was eventually convinced to send graphic messages, sexually explicit images, and pornographic videos
According to the complaint, Roblox has always marketed itself as safe and family-friendly. But according to the lawsuit filed by Dolman, it has instead become a gathering place for predators who use the service to target children. The lawsuit claims these predators build trust, groom children into faux romantic relationships, solicit sexual content, and usually end up extorting them for more images and videos to prevent the receiver from sending their nude content to friends and family. This is known as sextortion.
In some of the most severe cases, including in cases filed by Dolman Law Group, the relationship between the adult and the minor progresses into a face-to-face meeting (or what the kids would call IRL, in real life) in which the minor and predator meet up. This has resulted in more than a few cases of children being sexually assaulted, kidnapped, and raped.
The filing also alleges that Roblox ignored warning signs for years and potentially maintained systems that were known to be flawed in the name of profit and putting growth over literally anything. It’s alleged that these moves allowed adults to impersonate children, contact young users, and move conversations to less monitored platforms like Discord—all of which have helped these horrendous acts to occur in the first place.
According to the complaint filed by Dolman Law Group, Roblox had both the power and the duty to prevent this exploitation, but repeatedly chose not to act.
Why Is Roblox Being Sued? What Are The Allegations Against Roblox?
The complaint filed by Dolman Law Group lists the following eight complaints in their recent lawsuit filed in Georgia against Roblox Corporation:
1. Fraudulent Concealment and Misrepresentations
The Dolman Law Group lawsuit alleges that Roblox knowingly concealed or misled parents about the safety of the Roblox platform. According to the complaint, the company was aware that online predators and sexually explicit content were being exchanged on their platform (as well as the potential millions of “experiences” that are inappropriate for children, yet have no age restrictions), but continued to market Roblox as safe for children.
This is more than a simple oversight; plaintiffs say it was an intentional decision that gave parents a false sense of security and encouraged them to allow their children to use the platform without fully understanding the risks. This is just another example of Roblox’s ‘grow at any cost’ business model.
2. Negligent Misrepresentation
Plaintiffs claim Roblox made public statements about its existing and new safety features and parental controls without first verifying their effectiveness. These features were promoted as protective measures when, really, they provided little actual protection. As a result, parents made decisions to let their children play on the Roblox platform based on inaccurate information, believing their children were protected when, in fact, that was far from the truth.
3. Negligence – General
This general negligence complaint asserts that Roblox failed to exercise reasonable care in the design, operation, and monitoring of its platform. Any company that produces a product has a duty to ensure that the product is safe and that information provided about that product is truthful.
This alleged failure created an environment where online sexual predators had easy access to vulnerable minors. Plaintiffs argue that adequate moderation, oversight, and safety protocols could have prevented these conditions.
4. Negligence – Failure to Warn
According to the lawsuit, Roblox knew or should have known that children on its platform faced serious risks of grooming and exploitation. Despite this, the company did not provide sufficient warnings to parents or users. Without clear and truthful information about these dangers, families were unable to make informed decisions about their children’s use of the platform.
5. Negligence – Unreasonable Design
Plaintiffs argue that Roblox’s platform design—including its chat functions, account creation process, and recommendation systems—was inherently unsafe for children. They allege the company could have implemented safer design choices but chose not to in order to maintain high user engagement and revenue.
6. Negligent Undertaking
The lawsuit claims Roblox voluntarily assumed certain responsibilities for user safety, such as content moderation and filtering, but failed to perform these duties with reasonable care. Plaintiffs allege this failure worsened the risks to children, leaving them more vulnerable than if no such measures had been undertaken at all.
7. Strict Liability – Design Defect
Plaintiffs allege that Roblox’s platform was defectively designed in a way that made it unreasonably dangerous for minors. They claim these design flaws directly contributed to the harm suffered by the child in this case, making the danger a built-in aspect of the product rather than an incidental issue.
8. Strict Liability – Failure to Warn
The lawsuit also asserts that Roblox is strictly liable for not providing adequate warnings about the dangers its platform poses to minors. Plaintiffs allege the company was aware that children could be exposed to grooming, exploitation, and abuse but failed to disclose these risks to parents and users.
Dolman Law Group Has Filed Roblox Lawsuits in Multiple States
In addition to this Georgia filing, Dolman Law Group has brought other major cases against Roblox.
Texas Lawsuit Against Roblox
Dolman Law Group filed a federal lawsuit in the Southern District of Texas against Roblox Corporation on behalf of Jane Doe, who is the guardian for her minor child (courts require an adult to also be on the lawsuit when a minor is the victim in the complaint).
The complaint alleges Roblox enabled the online grooming and sexual exploitation of the child by allowing predators to pose as minors, communicate directly with children without moderation or roadblocks, and coerce them into sending explicit images and videos.
Plaintiffs claim Roblox failed to implement meaningful safety measures, ignored clear warning signs, and prioritized profit over user protection. The lawsuit seeks to hold Roblox accountable for negligence, design defects, failure to warn, and other safety-related legal violations.
California Case Against Roblox and Discord
Dolman Law Group has also filed a lawsuit in California involving both Roblox Corporation and Discord, Inc. This case centers on an 11-year-old Florida girl who was groomed on Roblox before the abuse escalated through Discord. The filing alleges both companies failed to verify user ages, ignored red flags, and profited from harmful activity that endangered minors.
These multi-state lawsuits highlight the national scope of the problem and our firm’s commitment to holding technology companies accountable wherever they operate.
When this case was filed, Forbes quoted lead attorney Matthew Dolman about the Roblox lawsuits:
“In allowing apps of these kinds to operate with virtually no restrictions, monitoring or age verification processes in place, we open ‘worlds’ designed for children to depraved individuals with unimaginable intentions and all the resources at their fingertips.”
