Roblox Lawsuit Update: Matthew Dolman Files 7 Lawsuits Against The Gaming Platform
Attorney Matthew Dolman has now filed seven cases against online gaming platform Roblox. The latest one is on behalf of a family of a 13-year-old St. Louis girl.
Matthew Dolman on Good Day Alabama: Roblox Lawsuit
From Attorney Matthew Dolman: "It's not as if your children are going on to a game that is meant for adults or is unsupervised, like I don't know the internet, you would think as a parent with any common sense that a publicly traded corporation telling you that this platform is meant for children six and older, that this is going to be safe. What you don't know is that adults are talking to children, and there's no moderation. There's no one blowing the whistle. There's no one keeping the adults segregated from the children."
Is Roblox Getting Sued? The Growing Controversy Around the Gaming Platform
Roblox has become a favorite among kids and teens, but recent reports have raised serious concerns about how the platform handles safety.
Investigations by The Guardian and Deseret News have shed light on troubling issues, sparking conversations about whether Roblox is doing enough to protect its users or if legal action might be on the way.
A report from The Guardian highlighted problems with inappropriate content and online predators. While the company has safety measures in place, critics argue that gaps in the system leave children exposed to potential harm. Some cases have shown kids interacting with questionable content or people they shouldn’t be engaging with, leading to questions about whether Roblox is effectively enforcing its rules.
Similarly, Deseret News examined how children can be exposed to inappropriate material on platforms like Roblox and questioned whether game developers and app stores are doing enough to enforce safety standards. The report suggested that many parents assume the platform is safe, only to discover later that their children were exposed to content they were never meant to see. This has led to growing frustration among families who feel the company has not done enough to prevent these issues.
With these concerns gaining more attention, there’s growing pressure for Roblox to make changes. Regulators and legal experts are keeping a close watch, and if the company doesn’t address these issues, it may soon face lawsuits or new regulations. For parents and players, the question remains: is Roblox as safe as it claims to be?
Roblox Lawsuit Updates - October 2025
Below are the most recent updates on the Roblox child sexual abuse lawsuits.
October 2, 2025 - Dolman Law Group Files Multiple New Sexploitation Lawsuits Against Roblox and Discord
Dolman Law Group continues its vigorous pursuit of systemic change and justice for the children exploited on popular gaming and chat platforms, Roblox and Discord. In just the last few days, the national litigation firm has filed multiple new, disturbing child sexploitation lawsuits (with many more lined up) against Roblox Corporation and Discord, Inc.
The recent two complaints discussed here were filed in the Northern District of California and the Superior Court of Camden County, New Jersey. This barrage of lawsuits by Dolman Law Group stresses the firm's serious commitment to holding these tech giants accountable for allegedly fostering environments where predators can thrive. '
And although they are just allegations at this point, the numerous and thoroughly researched exposés written by the NYT and Bloomberg, among many others, along with over a decade's worth of accusations, point to something extremely concerning and serious that is happening on Roblox and has been for a long time.
Allegations of Negligence and Prioritizing Profit Over Child Safety
The latest lawsuits echo previous claims, alleging that both Roblox and Discord have been negligent in providing adequate safeguards for their young users.
Dolman Law Group asserts that these corporations prioritize financial gain over child welfare, creating "breeding grounds" for predators. In both cases, minor girls, identified as Jane Does, were allegedly groomed and manipulated by dangerous individuals masquerading as children their age.
The predators reportedly exploited the minors, in one instance by offering Robux, Roblox’s virtual currency, in exchange for sexually explicit images.
A Pattern of Unsafe Environments
Matt Dolman, the founding lawyer of Dolman Law Group, expressed his dismay at the ongoing situation.
“This case against Roblox and Discord is a terrifying reminder of the world we live in where capitalist greed far outweighs humanity,” said Matt.
He further criticized Roblox.
“Roblox has been operating anarchically for nearly 20 years, allowing predators to roam freely while causing irreparable harm to countless children.”
Through internal investigations, Dolman Law Group has uncovered alarming "experiences" on Roblox that disturbingly mirror pop-culture references, with games titled “Diddy Party,” “Survive Diddy,” “JeffEpsteinSupporter,” and “Escape to Epstein Island.”
These findings further underscore the firm’s allegations that the platforms instil an unfounded sense of safety in parents and guardians, despite their design potentially making children easy prey for pedophiles.
The lawsuits seek unspecified monetary damages for the profound, life-altering psychological and emotional injuries suffered by the victims. Dolman Law Group continues to represent individuals in cases against Roblox across the United States.
October 1, 2025 - More Lawsuits Accuse Roblox and Discord of Enabling Predator Access to Children
Roblox and Discord are facing new legal scrutiny after multiple lawsuits allege the platforms failed to protect children from sexual predators, leading to devastating abuse and, in one case, a child’s death by suicide.
The Lawsuit Legal News team, created by Attorney Matthew Dolman of Dolman Law Group, is actively involved in these cases and has already filed several lawsuits against Roblox and Discord on behalf of families and minors who have been harmed by these companies.
Roblox Abuse Alleged to Cause the Death of a 15-Year-Old
In the most tragic example, the parents of a 15-year-old boy have filed a lawsuit after their son died by suicide following months of sexual exploitation by an adult predator. The lawsuit claims the predator targeted the teen through Roblox, gained his trust, and coerced him into sharing explicit content—despite all parental controls being activated. The abuse allegedly continued on Discord. The child’s parents are now suing both companies for failing to detect, report, or prevent the abuse that ultimately claimed their son’s life.
Two More Lawsuits Claim Grooming of Two Minor Girls
Just days later, two more lawsuits were filed in federal court on behalf of teenage girls in Wake County and Cumberland County. Both complaints allege that adult predators used Roblox and Discord to groom and exploit the girls, who were just 13 and 14 at the time. The lawsuits claim the predators posed as children, used voice-altering technology, and lured victims into sending explicit images in exchange for Robux, Roblox’s in-game currency.
One of those lawsuits was filed by Dolman Law Group, the legal team behind Lawsuit Legal News. Matthew Dolman, who is representing the Cumberland County family, said,
“There have never been sufficient safety measures and protocols in place, and children are suffering unimaginably. Roblox gives evil individuals another literal bargaining chip to play out their unthinkable fantasies with impressionable children.”
These lawsuits echo growing public concern about Roblox’s addictive qualities, unsafe chat features, and failure to provide adequate protections, especially for young users. In a recent statement, Roblox CEO Dave Baszucki advised concerned parents to simply keep their children off the platform, a suggestion many find unrealistic in the current digital age.
Parents whose children have been harmed emotionally, psychologically, or sexually while using Roblox or Discord are encouraged to speak with a qualified attorney.

September 22, 2025 – Sexploitation Lawsuit Filed Against Roblox and Discord
The Dolman Law Group team has filed a new lawsuit against Roblox and Discord, alleging that the companies failed to protect an 11-year-old girl from a sexual predator. Our complaint states that both platforms lack adequate child safety protocols, creating a "breeding ground for predators." The lawsuit claims a predator used Robux, the app’s currency, to pressure the minor into sending sexually explicit images. This legal action highlights the ongoing concern that these companies' focus on profits outweighs their responsibility to keep young users safe.
September 20, 2025 – Plaintiffs Are Moving to Centralize These Roblox Lawsuits Over Child Exploitation
On September 20, 2025, plaintiff attorneys filed a motion with the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) to request the consolidation of all these lawsuits against Roblox into an MDL (multi-district litigation). The reason for this request is that MDLs are used to streamline cases that are all against the same defendant(s) with similar injuries, but where the exact circumstances of the cases are not the same. In this situation, many cases have been filed against Roblox and Discord, all for the alleged grooming, exploitation, and abuse of minors on their platforms.
The request proposes the Northern District of California as the venue for the MDL, and they specifically named Judge William Orrick and Chief Judge Richard Seeborg as possible candidates to preside over the proceedings.
Why have the plaintiffs requested the JPML consolidate the cases now? Well, right now there are 31 active cases spread across 12 different districts and assigned to 25 different judges. An MDL would put all these 31 cases and any future cases into a single federal case overseen by one judge to prevent any conflicting rulings from the 25 current judges.
And, perhaps most importantly, to reduce the massive amount of redundancy that would occur if the same types of cases were held dozens of times. If Roblox had to go through discovery efforts 25 or 100 times, it would be insanely time-consuming. The same applies in the opposite direction since an MDL would allow plaintiffs to pool their resources as well.
September 16, 2025 – Roblox is Getting Sued by an Alabama Girl Groomed on Roblox and Discord
Dolman Law Group has filed another child exploitation lawsuit, this time on behalf of a 12-year-old girl from Dale County, Alabama, who was repeatedly groomed on Roblox and Discord. Predators used Robux, Roblox’s in-game currency, as leverage to manipulate and exploit her. What followed led to a severe mental health crisis, suicidal thoughts, and hospitalization.
The lawsuit claims both companies have built platforms that allow predators to operate with little resistance and have done next to nothing to fix it. Roblox continues to rake in billions while failing to deliver even the most basic protections for kids.
“These predators are using Robux as currency for abuse and Roblox knows it,” said attorney Matthew Dolman. “They’re complicit every time this happens.”
We’re not stopping. Not until Roblox and Discord are forced to make their platforms safe for children.
September 10, 2025 – Arkansas Boy Exploited on Roblox and Discord, New Lawsuit Filed
We’ve filed another lawsuit, this one in Perry County, Arkansas, on behalf of a 12-year-old boy who was sexually exploited on Roblox and Discord. According to the complaint, a predator pretended to be another child, gained the boy’s trust, and then coerced him into sending nude images. As in so many of these cases, the predator urged secrecy to avoid detection.
Dolman Law Group is holding Roblox and Discord accountable for enabling this abuse. Their platforms continue to provide easy access for predators and have failed to implement real protections.
“Roblox has put profit ahead of child safety, and it’s time they answer for it,” said founding attorney Matthew Dolman. The lawsuit seeks damages for the boy’s emotional trauma and calls out Roblox’s misleading claims about safety and security.
September 4, 2025 – Roblox Getting Sued Again, This Time by an Indiana Teen Exploited on Roblox and Discord
Another disturbing case. We’ve filed suit in California on behalf of a Lake County, Indiana, family whose daughter was groomed, exploited, and encouraged to self-harm by a predator who moved between Roblox and Discord to avoid detection.
The predator posed as a teenager, gained the girl’s trust, and coerced her into sending explicit photos. He also urged her to harm herself, all while operating freely on platforms marketed as safe for kids.
Our lawsuit accuses Roblox and Discord of knowingly creating an unsafe ecosystem that predators can exploit with ease. Despite marketing themselves as family-friendly platforms, they’ve failed to implement even basic safeguards. They’re more focused on growth and investor satisfaction than protecting the children who use their apps.
September 3, 2025 – Roblox Sued by 8-Year-Old Virginia Girl's Family Claiming She Was Exploited for Robux
We’ve filed a federal lawsuit in California on behalf of an 8-year-old girl from Stafford County, Virginia who was exploited on Roblox by a predator posing as another child. According to the complaint, the predator used Robux to groom the girl, sending her explicit images and demanding the same in return, eventually threatening her when she tried to stop.
The lawsuit argues Roblox’s design allows predators to operate freely and privately, while the company continues to market the platform as safe for children. The same systems that power their profits are the ones putting kids at risk.
User-generated content on Roblox also remains a major concern. Our investigation found dozens of disturbing games with names referencing real-world predators and abuse.
This lawsuit is part of a growing wave of litigation aimed at forcing Roblox to finally prioritize child safety.
September 1, 2025 – Roblox Faces Major Legal Challenges Over Child Exploitation Failures
Roblox Corporation is facing mounting legal pressure after a series of new lawsuits and investigations have continued to reveal serious safety concerns surrounding how the platform handles underage users.
The most high-profile attention came from Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, who filed a civil lawsuit on August 1, accusing Roblox of enabling the distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) by failing to implement basic safety protections.
The AG's lawsuit alleges that Roblox has prioritized platform growth and revenue over user safety—particularly children—even though they've had some degree of awareness about their predator problem for at least 8 years.
One of the most disturbing claims involves the existence of games like “Escape to Epstein Island”, which was marked as suitable for all ages. Other investigators, including Ruben Sims and Dolman Law Group, have found "hang out areas" which amount to basically virtual sex clubs and a great place for predators to find children. This area in Roblox is called "Public Bathroom," and its age restriction is marked as "minimum."
The AG’s office claims Roblox has knowingly allowed sexually explicit content, grooming behavior, and predatory interactions to continue to prevent a bad reputation and to prevent a disruption to their rapid growth. The lawsuit goes on to admonish Roblox for its public claims that the platform is child-friendly and heavily moderated.
The Louisiana complaint seeks a permanent injunction, civil penalties, and restitution under the state’s Unfair Trade Practices Act. The suit also criticizes Roblox for silencing outside safety efforts, including a case where the company banned a user known as “Schlep”, who ran online sting operations exposing predators on the platform. Critics claim Roblox has acted to protect its image rather than its users.
Roblox Issues Public Denial
Roblox quickly responded to the Louisiana lawsuit, calling the allegations “misleading and based on misconceptions.” In a press release, the company emphasized its recent investments in user safety, including:
- Deployment of over 40 new safety tools in the past year
- Implementation of cross-platform signal sharing and voice-safety classifiers
- 24/7 content moderation by human reviewers and AI
- Age verification tools to restrict access to private and mature experiences
Despite these claims, legal and public criticism continues to grow.
New Mass Tort Filing Alleges Abuse of Over 400 Victims
In a separate legal development, a mass tort lawsuit was filed on behalf of more than 400 alleged victims who were groomed, exploited, or sexually abused on Roblox and Discord. The suit includes the case of an 11-year-old victim allegedly harmed in 2007, suggesting the problem has persisted for more than a decade without adequate intervention.
Lawmakers and Media Call for Accountability
Public officials, including Rep. Ro Khanna, have criticized Roblox for shutting down independent safety efforts. Major outlets like Wired, Gizmodo, and PC Gamer have reported on recent Roblox policy changes, such as banning implied sexual content and restricting certain private features to verified users over 17. However, experts warn that these steps may fall short of addressing the platform’s deeper vulnerabilities.

August 20, 2025 – First Missouri Sexploitation Lawsuit Filed Against Roblox
Dolman Law Group, the team behind LLN, just filed the first lawsuit in Missouri against Roblox on behalf of our minor client and their guardian. Unfortunately, this case is so much like the others. Our client, a 13-year-old girl from St. Louis, was targeted and exploited by a predator on Roblox. I know, what a shock!
Firms Cooper Masterman and Wallace Miller assisted Dolman Law Group with this lawsuit, which was filed in the Circuit Court of the City of St. Louis on behalf of the girl and her mother.
Once again, our lawsuit alleges that Roblox created a breeding ground for predators by prioritizing profits over safety and failing to implement safeguards for children.
The child in question, whom we will call Jane Doe, started using Roblox at seven, with her mom believing the app was safe for children based on how it is often marketed. Instead, she was groomed by an adult posing as another child, who manipulated her in private messages to send sexually explicit images.
Matthew Dolman, the founder of Dolman Law Group, said, “This case is a terrifying reminder of the world we live in, where capitalist greed outweighs humanity. Children suffer unimaginably due to insufficient safety measures. Roblox opens the virtual door to sexual predators and convicted offenders posing as children with evil intentions.”
Our lawsuit also highlights how Roblox knows about disturbing in-game experiences like Diddy Party, Survive Diddy, JeffEpsteinSupporter, and Escape to Epstein Island. Despite knowing these environments exist, Roblox does nothing to remove them, which only normalizes these types of sexually exploitative portions of the game and leads children through a path of grooming, first by the game and then by some anonymous online creep.
We are seeking damages for profound and lasting harm, including severe mental health struggles, self-harm, anxiety, and a devastating loss of trust. Dolman Law Group is representing children and families nationwide in Roblox cases. Learn more at www.roblox-lawsuit.com.
August 11, 2025 – Dolman Law Group Files Another Roblox Lawsuit, This Time in the Superior Court of Georgia
In August 2025, Dolman Law Group, along with co-counsel Battle Law, filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of DeKalb County, Georgia, on behalf of their client, who wishes to remain anonymous, along with her minor son. The complaint alleges that Roblox enabled online grooming and in-person sexual exploitation by allowing predators to pose as minors, directly chat with children, and coerce or extort explicit content from the children.
Our client claims Roblox ignored the warning signs of online predators taking advantage of children, failed to implement effective safety measures and moderation, and prioritized profits over the protection of children.
This Georgia filing is another major lawsuit from Dolman Law Group. It joins the growing wave of lawsuits from around the country seeking to hold Roblox and Discord accountable for their actions.
And although this is not in the recent Dolman Law Group complaint, some information even points to the possibility that Roblox knew about this issue and did nothing about it because they know 40% of their daily users are children, and a large percentage of the other users are adults preying on those children.
August 1, 2025 – Indiana Family Alleges Young Daughter Falls Prey to Roblox Predator
As lawsuits related to Roblox addiction continue to rise, an Indiana family has taken legal action after their young daughter was allegedly groomed and sexually assaulted by a predator who contacted her through the platform. The lawsuit accuses Roblox of failing to prevent the attack, despite clear signs of danger and the child’s age being apparent through her account.
Families across the country are pursuing justice after their children suffered harm while using Roblox, whether due to addictive behaviors or unsafe online interactions. Our team is accepting cases involving children who were sexually exploited through the Roblox platform. If your child was harmed while using Roblox, you may be eligible to file a lawsuit. Legal action can help families seek compensation and push for stronger protections for kids online. July 22, 2025 – Dolman Law Group Files Lawsuit Against Roblox & Discord on Behalf of 11-year-old Girl, Raped After Meeting Predator on Roblox
Dolman Law Group has filed a lawsuit in San Mateo County, California, against Roblox Corporation and Discord, Inc., on behalf of an 11-year-old Florida girl who was groomed and exploited through both platforms. The complaint alleges that Roblox and Discord failed to implement basic child safety protections, designed systems that exposed minors to predators, and misled parents about the safety of their platforms.
Despite being marketed as safe environments for kids, the lawsuit claims that both companies allowed unsupervised interactions between children and adults, including in spaces with sexually inappropriate content. The case seeks damages for the victim and demands systemic reforms to prevent further harm to vulnerable users.
July 1, 2025 – Roblox & Discord Face New Lawsuits Over Child Sexual Exploitation as Florida Launches Investigation
Legal pressure continues to mount against Roblox Corporation and Discord as more families come forward alleging the platforms failed to protect children from online predators. In a recent lawsuit filed in Texas, the parents of a 13-year-old girl say their daughter was groomed and sexually assaulted by an adult man who contacted her through Roblox, even though parental controls were active on her account.
According to the complaint, the predator used Roblox’s chat features to send sexually explicit messages and pressure the girl into sharing personal information. He allegedly used that information to find her home, where he later broke in and assaulted her. The case has intensified public scrutiny over how effective Roblox’s safety measures truly are.
April 29, 2025 – Florida Family Alleges Roblox Failed to Protect Their Daughter
Another lawsuit out of Florida alleges that a young girl was “groomed and sexually exploited” on both Roblox and Discord despite Roblox’s assurances of a safe, child-friendly experience. The predator reportedly used both platforms to communicate with the underage girl, whose account clearly identified her as a minor.
The suit accuses Roblox of misrepresenting the safety of its environment and failing to take sufficient steps to detect and block predatory behavior. While Roblox advertises parental controls and moderation tools, families say those measures are not enough to prevent real-world harm.
Apr 16, 2025 – Florida AG Opens Child Protection Inquiry Into Roblox
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has issued a subpoena to Roblox Inc., initiating a formal investigation into the incredibly popular gaming platform's practices concerning child users and the potential child exploitation taking place on the platform.
This action by the Florida AG underscores an increasing statewide focus on safeguarding minors online, as the Attorney General aims to compel transparency and accountability from platforms widely used by children. How useful this inquiry will be is yet to be determined, since it will almost certainly expose mountains of child predatory behavior and a lack of oversight in the name of profits, which will be pitted against the massive power a lucrative corporation like Roblox has in 2025 America.
According to the subpoena, the attorney general's office is also looking for communications to and from Florida users reporting abuse and communication with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, among other things.
“We are issuing a subpoena to Roblox to uncover how this platform is marketing to children and to see what policies they are implementing—if any—to avoid interactions with predators,” Uthmeier wrote in a news release.
The subpoena demands that Roblox provide detailed information on its marketing to children, age-verification methods, and chat room moderation, citing the "concerning reports" of children being exposed to extremely harmful content, sexual predators, and life-changing interactions on a platform that is presented as so innocent. See the image below—does this look like the type of game where your child might wander into a “sex bathhouse” that has no age restrictions to enter?
Lawsuit Legal News and Dolman Law Group are closely monitoring the Florida AG inquiry and all other Roblox-related developments. Please feel free to bookmark this page to stay up to date with all the twists and turns this case is sure to make.
Past Roblox Litigation News
The first civil lawsuits were filed in February 2025, alleging that Roblox and Discord are failing to protect children using these platforms from online predators and inappropriate content. Around the same time, Bloomberg published a report called “Roblox Predator Problem Potentially Exposes Kids to Pedophiles.”
This research highlighted that Roblox, despite its popularity with children, has significant vulnerabilities that predators widely exploit to sexually exploit children, extort them for sexual content, groom them, and, in more than one instance, meet the kids in real life and sexually assault them.

13-Year-Old Girl Exploited on Roblox and Discord
A new lawsuit in California accuses Roblox Corporation and Discord Inc. of facilitating the sexual exploitation of an underage girl. Using the pseudonym Jane Doe, the case was filed in April 2025, in the Superior Court of California, alleging that a 13-year-old girl was groomed by a predator on Roblox and later coerced and extorted into taking and sending explicit images to the predator on Discord.
The lawsuit claims that both companies failed to implement adequate safety measures and misled parents about the safety of their platforms. They claim this lack of oversight and false sense of security allowed a known predator to directly contact, build trust, and exploit the child.
Attorneys for the family argue that Roblox’s chat features, like the whisper (a direct messaging feature in the game) and Discord’s private channels, enabled the abuse, despite the child’s account clearly indicating she was a minor, which some may argue is the whole point of profiles asking for a person's age.
This is one of the first lawsuits to target both Roblox and Discord over child safety and sexual exploitation. The lawsuit is seeking damages for negligence, failure to warn, and other claims related to these platforms' failure to put in the proper backstops to protect their users.
Abduction of a 10-Year-Old Girl from Taft, California
A 10-year-old girl from Taft, California, was abducted on April 13, 2025, after making contact with a man through Roblox and communicating with him on Discord. She was later found in the suspect’s car in Elk Grove, over 250 miles away. The suspect, 27-year-old Matthew Naval, was arrested and faces multiple felony charges, including kidnapping and engaging in sexual activity with a minor. Investigators believe Naval had been grooming the girl for weeks using online gaming and messaging features.
The Arnold "DoctorRofatnik" Castillo Case
Arnold Castillo, a 28-year-old game developer known as "DoctorRofatnik" who operated the popular Roblox game "Sonic Eclipse Online," used his online persona to groom children. Despite signs of predatory behavior, including disturbing private messages to a 12-year-old, he continued to operate on the platform. He was arrested after paying an Uber to abduct a 15-year-old Indiana girl he had groomed, bringing her 700 miles to his home in New Jersey for sexual exploitation. Screenshots revealed disturbing private chats where he openly expressed his intent to "corrupt" the preteen.
The 8-Year-Old Girl Coerced for Robux
In 2020, a 48-year-old registered sex offender met an 8-year-old girl on Roblox. He traded thousands of Robux for over 20 explicit images and videos she had taken of herself. The article notes the girl's reported response, "Anything for Robux," despite the perpetrator observing her discomfort, highlighting how in-game currency was exploited to coerce minors.
The 13-Year-Old Boy Exploited for Gift Cards
A 45-year-old man was charged with sexual crimes after a 13-year-old boy he met on Roblox shared his password so the man could add gift cards to his account. In exchange, the man received hundreds of photos and videos of the boy showering and performing sexual acts. This exploitation continued over three years, with the man paying the boy thousands of dollars' worth of Robux.
The "Therapist" Character and the Child Tester
In a Roblox "therapy" experience, a therapist character instructed a child tester to run away from home. The character then offered to pick up the child and have them move into his basement, suggesting they could pay rent "with their body." This incident illustrates how disturbing and dangerous scenarios can be created within user-generated content on Roblox.
The 29-Year-Old with 175 Hours of Grooming Footage
In 2018, a 29-year-old individual was apprehended with 175 hours of video footage. This footage documented him grooming and engaging in explicit behavior with 150 minors using various online platforms, with Roblox notably mentioned as one of the platforms used for these interactions.
Potential Legal Issues and Grounds for Lawsuits
Just because a child is not kidnapped or tricked into sending nude photos doesn't mean that Roblox cannot be extremely inappropriate and harmful to children. Let’s look at some of the issues happening right on the platform with and without any direct child-to-adult interaction.
As more concerns about Roblox come to light, legal experts are starting to ask whether the platform has done enough to protect its users and follow the law. The company could soon face serious legal challenges.
One of the most significant issues, by far, is Roblox’s failure to protect kids from harmful content and online predators.
If it’s proven that Roblox ignored warnings or has been failing to take more decisive action, it could be held legally responsible. With the lawsuits starting to come in, Roblox may soon have to answer tough questions from parents, consumer protection groups, and the plaintiffs as they get their day in court.
Here are some of the allegations against Roblox:
- Failure to Protect Children from Online Predators: Allegations that Roblox has not implemented sufficient safeguards to prevent predators from contacting, grooming, and exploiting minors on its platform.
- Inadequate Moderation and Enforcement: Claims that Roblox's moderation systems are flimsy, slow to respond to reports of abuse, or ineffective at detecting inappropriate content and communication, allowing harmful interactions to persist.
- Misrepresentation of Platform Safety: Accusations that Roblox markets itself as a safe and child-friendly environment to parents while allegedly knowing about or ignoring significant risks of sexual exploitation.
- Enabling Inappropriate User-Generated Content (UGC): Allowing the creation and accessibility of "experiences" (games) or groups that feature sexually suggestive themes, simulate adult scenarios, or facilitate problematic interactions, despite being accessible to children.
- Insufficient Age Verification and Restrictions: Allegations that Roblox's age verification processes are easily bypassed or inadequate, leading to minors being exposed to content and interactions intended for older users, and enabling adult predators to pose as minors or access child-centric spaces.
- Failure to Act on Warnings or Reports: Claims that Roblox was aware of predatory behavior, illicit content, or grooming tactics on its platform through internal reports, external warnings, or user complaints, but failed to take timely or effective action to stop them.
- Providing Tools for Exploitation: Arguments that the platform's communication features (like chat and direct messages) and "digital playground" design inadvertently provide readily available tools for predators to initiate contact and build rapport with children.
Shocking Child Abuse Material on Roblox
The size of Roblox is a giant problem: 85.3 million people use Roblox every single day! Nearly 40% of these users are 13 years old or younger. That’s approximately 32 million tweens and children (not counting 14 to 17-year-old children) exposed to this insane debauchery and truly dangerous platform.
Now, I know what you're thinking. Parents need to monitor what their kids can do on Roblox. But there are over 6 million active “experiences” that users can participate in on Roblox, and parents can’t go through them all. So, Roblox should put different maturity ratings on each experience, right? Right!
The problem is that the developer picks the maturity rating. Just look at what technology investigators, Revealing Reality, found on Roblox. Here is one of those experiences we are talking about. It’s called “Public Bathroom.” The maturity rating is set to Minimal, meaning there is no age limit to get it.
Who Can File a Lawsuit Against Roblox?
As more people raise concerns about safety issues on Roblox, more parents will start taking notice and might find that their child has been part of this extremely disturbing phenomenon. Video game lawsuits are not new, but this situation is different.
- Parents or Legal Guardians of a Child: If your child (under 18) was harmed due to sexual abuse or exploitation that occurred on or was facilitated by Roblox.
- Individuals Who Were Minors at the Time of Harm: Young adults (typically under 25, depending on state laws) who were victims of sexual exploitation on Roblox while they were minors may also be eligible to file a lawsuit on their own behalf.
- Families of Victims: Family members who have suffered emotional distress or other damages as a direct result of their child's sexual abuse or exploitation on Roblox.
If you or someone you know has been affected, talking to a lawyer could help you understand your options.
New Jersey AG Consumer Protection Lawsuit – Discord’s Role in Child Predation
In mid-April 2025, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin filed a consumer protection lawsuit against Discord Inc., citing the platform’s dangers to children. The state’s complaint (filed April 17 in New Jersey Superior Court, Essex County) accuses Discord of deceptive practices and inadequate safety controls that “recklessly expose” children to predators and harmful content.
Notably, the NJ Attorney General describes Discord as a “hunting ground for predators,” alleging the company knowingly allowed child sexual abuse material to spread on its services without timely removal or reporting.
The filing emphasizes that Discord’s design and lax moderation enable adults to contact minors easily – for example, any user can send friend requests or private messages to a child by default.
While this state lawsuit targets Discord, it explicitly references popular games like Roblox to illustrate how children congregate in online communities and then become vulnerable to cross-platform exploitation.
New Jersey seeks penalties and injunctive relief to force better protections on Discord, underscoring a broader crackdown on tech companies that market “safe” spaces to kids but fail to prevent abuse.
Florida AG Investigation – Subpoena to Roblox
Florida’s Attorney General launched a legal offensive in April 2025 aimed directly at Roblox’s practices.
On April 16, 2025, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier issued an investigative subpoena to Roblox. This subpoena demands that Roblox produce information about how the platform markets to children, its age verification measures, chat moderation policies, and its handling of users’ data.
The AG’s office cited “concerning reports” that Roblox exposes children to graphic, harmful content and allows “bad actors” (predators) to message minors in-game freely.
Florida is probing whether Roblox’s safety and privacy practices violate state consumer protection laws or put children at risk. Roblox has publicly stated it will cooperate with the investigation and remains “deeply committed” to user safety.
Florida’s action is not a lawsuit but a legal investigation – it signals possible future enforcement if Roblox’s answers are unsatisfactory. This move, alongside New Jersey’s Discord case, highlights growing government scrutiny of child safety on platforms like Roblox.
Is Roblox Getting Sued in Multidistrict Litigation (MDL)?
Beyond the new filings above, Roblox is involved in broader litigation trends related to child safety and online harm. Numerous families across the U.S. have filed lawsuits against Roblox, alleging that the platform’s design harms minors in various ways.
Dozens of these cases have been filed on behalf of families who have had children who were harmed due to Roblox through sexual exploitation, sextortion, or, far worse, actual real-world events like kidnapping.
Lawyers have been evaluating the potential to consolidate all these claims in a proposed multidistrict litigation (MDL) that seeks to combine these lawsuits involving sexual exploitation and grooming against Roblox to help speed up the trial and simplify things for everyone.
However, in June 2024, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation denied centralization due to substantial differences in the games and defendants involved.
Because of this, Roblox-related sexual exploitation lawsuits are proceeding individually in various state and federal courts. It’s clear that Roblox is facing legal challenges on multiple fronts—and rightfully so.
This year alone, there has been a spike in court filings and public scrutiny, reflecting growing pressure on Roblox to bolster safety and accountability measures for its young user base.
What to Do If You or Your Child Has Been Affected
If you or your child has had a bad experience on Roblox, there are steps you can take to address the situation and protect your rights.
- Keep Records of What Happened: Save any screenshots, messages, or emails that could help document the issue. Whether it’s an inappropriate chat or evidence of grooming, having proof can be vital if you need to take further action.
- Report the Problem to Roblox: Roblox has tools for reporting harassment, scams, and other violations. While their response isn’t always immediate, filing a report ensures that the issue is on record.
- Check Privacy and Chat Restrictions: If your child plays Roblox, it’s a good idea to review their privacy settings and chat restrictions.

Common Questions about the Roblox Sexual Abuse Lawsuits
Why is Roblox getting sued?
People are filing lawsuits claiming Roblox was intentionally designed to be addictive and expose children to harmful content, causing real emotional and financial harm.
What are families' lawsuits alleging?
The lawsuits argue that Roblox’s addictive features—like compulsion loops and endless gameplay—lead to addiction, mental health problems, and dangerous social interactions. Also, the lack of safety measures allows online predators to find, groom, and abuse children by pretending to be other children.
What evidence do I need to file a lawsuit?
Helpful documentation includes medical records, proof of time spent on Roblox, receipts for Robux, and statements from teachers or therapists showing changes in your child’s behavior.
What damages can be recovered?
Families may recover medical expenses, therapy costs, lost wages, and emotional distress damages, plus punitive damages in some cases.
Is there a deadline for filing a Roblox lawsuit?
Yes. Every state has its legal deadlines for filing a personal injury or product liability lawsuit. These are called statutes of limitations, and missing the deadline will prevent your case from moving forward. LLN’s team of experienced lawyers, including Dolman Law Group, can explain how much time you have to file a Roblox claim.
Can I file a lawsuit on behalf of my child?
Yes. Parents and legal guardians can file a lawsuit for a child who was harmed by Roblox’s design or content.
What if my child is still playing Roblox?
You can still file, but it may impact your case. Courts may consider whether steps were taken to address the addiction or exposure.
